Numerous events, festivals and tourist attractions are offered by Camilla and Mitchell County. The area's finest artists are showcased in the Camilla Invitational Art Show and Sale every February. Our favorite summer Southern annoyance is celebrated each May with Gnat Days which features food, crafts, festivities, a bed race and, of course, lots of gnats. 
   
Historic McRee Hall is an old family mansion that has been restored to all its elegance and Southern charm. It is now a bed and breakfast with a fine dining restaurant and adjacent conference center in its restored carriage and smokehouse.
   
Accredited with the Southern Association of Schools and Colleges, the Mitchell County School System offers a curriculum for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.
  
Westwood provides a private school setting, and Camilla also features a variety of preschools and daycare facilities.
   
Health care services have been provided by Mitchell County Hospital since 1949. Recent renovations and additions have made it a state-of-the-art facility with inpatient services, radiology, pharmacy, rehabilitation services and much more.
